Bun B, Houston born rapper and one-half of legendary duo, UGK, made noise in the culinary world last year with the announcement of his fast-casual burger pop-up, Trill Burgers. Since then, the man has taken his culinary concept across the country to California. After a brief Coachella stint, Bun B will reprise Trill Burgers in Houston with a one-day pop-up on Sunday, May 15.
The burger joint is the product between the King of Trill, Andy Nguyen of Afters Ice Cream, and siblings Patsy and Benson Vivares of Sticky’s Chicken. Trill Burgers specializes in smashburgers – a West Coast-style of hamburger that is basically what it sounds like: burgers with thin, compressed patties with crispy edges and a toasted flavor.
“For years I’ve been fascinated with the culinary scene, trying to find the best entry point for me. Today I can say I’ve found it,” the rapper wrote in an Instagram post.
Trill Burgers serves a variety of burgers using 44 Farms patties, as well as meatless patties, with variations of onions and cheese.
“We are so excited and can’t wait to share to the rest of Houston what we have in store for y’all!!”
Trill Burgers plans to open up a brick and mortar at a later date. The pop-up opens at Sticky’s Chicken, 2313 Edwards St., Suite #190, at noon on Sunday, May 15, and will go on until 6 pm or until they run out of supplies.
