The hits keep on coming for the Houston Astros. In the wake of the sign-stealing scandal that accompanied their 2017 World Championship Title, the team has faced a barrage of criticism. Whether it’s little league teams barring the name, a “fxcking irate” Lebron James, or a network television comedian coming out of left field to unleash a tirade tweets with the intention of canceling Houston — the team and its fans have more or less had to weather the blows from critics. But now, Houstonians can bite their thumbs at the haters with this new line of fan-made merch. [Featured image: @h8usshirts]
For Astros fans, the scandal was a hard pill to swallow. Alas, fans are lashing back at the ire of the sports world with “Hate Us,” merchandise. Last Monday, the virtual, DIY retailer H8usshirts uploaded a photo of one of their t-shirts to IG. The shirts caught fire and sold out within days.
On a navy backdrop, the shirts feature the phrase “Hate us” in white print with the first letter in the team’s typeface highlighted by an orange star.
While the online retailer restocks its shelves for more sales, other fans and creators — in response to an inquiry from KPRC — have posted their takes on Astros’ attire with attitude.
The above design, submitted by Richard Mendez, is my personal favorite. Other designs included a play on of the revolutionary slogan, “Come and take it.”
Some were a little on the nose.
And lastly, there were those that featured the mentality of Houston vs. The World.
On a hat, too.
As of now, the original “Hate Us” t-shirts are sold out. But you can pre-order them on their website. Sizes are available from small to 4XL. Shipping is free.
