The Houston-area suburb of Rosenberg aims to position itself as a major destination with the announcement of a $235 million development project centered on the Fort Bend Epicenter. According to a City of Rosenberg press release, the major new development will see the creation of a full-service hotel and 70,000-square-foot convention center.
Announced this past September, the Fort Bend County EpiCenter Hotel and Convention Center Project will center on the expansion of the Fort Bend County Epicenter, a $120 million venue that opened in August 2023. The project would feature a connected full-service hotel and convention center, as well as two parking garages with a total of 2,600 spaces.

The press release states that the funding would be shared between Fort Bend County and a private developer; Fort Bend County would provide around $160 million going toward the convention center and parking garages, as the private developer would invest around $75 million into the construction of the hotel, which it would own.
Under the plan, Fort Bend County has asked Rosenberg to return the 7% hotel tax from the new hotel back to the County for 30 years. That would be the City’s only contribution. Any hotel taxes from future hotels sparked by the project would stay with Rosenberg and wouldn’t be part of the deal.”
Per the press release:
“The EpiCenter Hotel and Convention Center Project is expected to enhance the existing Fort Bend EpiCenter facility, spur further development opportunities in the area, and assist in positioning Rosenberg as a regional destination for tourism, conferences and entertainment.”
Developers are planning to build out the project in phases, beginning with a parking structure. The third phase of the project would see the creation of additional retail space.
No timeline regarding the development nor groundbreaking date has yet to be announced.
