Meow Wolf is opening a weird wonderland in Houston! Ahead of its official opening for this year, the art collective has announced its lineup of 40+ local artists to help bring Meow Wolf Houston to life.
What is Meow Wolf?
Meow Wolf is an art collective comprised of hundreds of artists and storytellers that creates experimental large-scale art venues that immerses visitors in impossibly fantastic immersive experiences. The highly acclaimed collective presently has four distinct experiences across the US, including venues in Santa Fe, Denver, Las Vegas, and most recently, Grapevine.
What to expect for Meow Wolf Houston?
No Meow Wolf venue is the same. Each venue is unique, and a journey in storytelling through cosmic themes that border on the surreal. As far its experience in Houston, details on its theme has thus far been relatively vague.
“In Houston we’ll engage a burgeoning arts community in the most diverse city in the nation, which we believe will result in a groundswell of revolutionary artistic expression.”
“The Texas experiences will be deeply rooted in artist collaboration and connected by concealed Easter eggs,” said Dale Sheehan, Executive Creative Director of Meow Wolf in a press release.

When is Meow Wolf opening in Houston?
As of now, the collective has yet to announce an official opening date. In May of 2023, Meow Wolf broke ground on its $42 million venue in Fifth Ward. It reports that it plans to open its Houston venue in 2024, no specific time frame or date has been mentioned.
Meow Wolf opened its Grapevine location in summer of 2023. The artists announcement preceded its opening by 10 months. If that’s any indication of its Houston timeline, we predict that the venue will likely open in November or December.
Where will it be located?
Meow Wolf will be located at 2103 Lyons Ave Bldg 2 across from Saint Arnold’s in Fifth Ward, Houston.

Why Houston?
Regarding their Houston experience, the arts company cited Houston’s large and diverse population as well as community of artists as reasons for its decision to choose Space City as a destination.
“Opening a permanent exhibition in the largest and one of the most diverse states in the country has been on Meow Wolf’s radar for years, and we are excited to be formally underway. The opportunities this state has presented have already become the touchstones of a vibrant, arts-centric portal of imaginative creativity.”
