“Go big or go home”, they say. Houston is home to its fair share of records with respect to size. From quirky records like the biggest house made of beer cans to more foodie feats like the biggest buffet in Texas: there’s a lot to love here. This weekend, the city will boast another title: “the longest bar in Texas” with the debut of the new Kirby Ice House location in The Heights Houston.
Admittedly, the new title isn’t exactly new, as the previous longest bar in Texas had already belonged to Kirby Ice House with its venue in The Woodlands opened in 2022. That said, we’re all on board for personal growth. Maxing out at 146 feet, the bar at Kirby Ice House in The Heights beats its previous record of 141 feet in The Woodlands by five feet – roughly the length of a monitor lizard.

The ice house’s Heights location will mark its fourth Houston-area location and will be its largest to date. Located at 1421 North Loop West, the dog-friendly ice house will spread out over a 3.5-acre campus totaling 24,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space.
Opening this Friday, August 29, the elevated Texas ice house concept seats 800 patrons making for an ideal space for watch parties, birthdays, corporate events, and other special occasions large and small.
At its newest venue, patrons can expect its signature selection of cold beer, wine, and cocktails, as well as a plethora of TVs, on-site food trucks, outdoor games, and more.

“The beautiful thing about Kirby Ice House is that there’s something for everyone,” said Kirby Ice House co-owner and founding partner Danny Evans in a press release. “The fundamentals of Kirby Ice House are simple: Great service, ice cold beer, huge patios and the best place to watch games and host big events. It’s a Texas thing.”
Kirby Ice House opens at 1421 North Loop in The Heights on Friday, August 29. The venue features over 400 parking spots on site.
