Making friends as a child is easy. You share your juice with another kid at daycare, and suddenly you’re besties for life. When we get to adulthood, however, things get a little trickier. We stick to the same old crowd, and there’re few opportunities to socialize with new people in a relaxed atmosphere. But thanks to ‘Imperfect Strangers’ in Houston, making real connections with like-minded adults is child’s play. Designed with friendship in mind, it’s a unique dining experience featuring interesting convos, fun games and lots of laughter.
What is ‘Imperfect Strangers’?
‘Imperfect Strangers’ is your chance to open up your social circle and have some fun in the process. It’s a dinner with strangers where communication and interaction is encouraged. To help keep conversation flowing, people are grouped together on each table based on their compatibility. To do that, attendees fill out a questionnaire after purchasing their tickets to determine their likes and interests, and an algorithm does the rest.
Who attends these ‘imperfect’ dinners?
Attendees must be 18 or over, but other than that, the experience is open to everyone, especially people looking for real interactions with real people. Nowadays, most of us are glued to our phones, so this is a great opportunity for people to genuinely connect with no screens involved. Whether you’re looking to bond with new people, broaden your perspectives or just try something new, we think this experience ticks all the right boxes.
The details you need to know
The location is a secret that’s only revealed 24 hours before the event is due to start, which is usually 7pm. On arrival, you’ll also be given a secret password to match you up to your designated table. Conversational games and icebreaker activities will help keep the evening flowing, and a delicious dinner and drinks is a major plus (please note that the ticket doesn’t include food or drinks).
Making new friends ain’t always easy, but ‘Imperfect Strangers’ in Houston does half the work for you. The stage (or in this case the table) is all set, all you have to do is ditch the devices for a few hours and turn up with an open mind. There are several events taking place over the coming months, just choose the one that’s best for you!
