“Eatertainment” venues continue to sweep the country. In Houston alone, you’ll find these interactive sports bars across the city including the likes of Chicken N’ Pickle, Popstroke, and Home Run Dugout. While there’s sure to be more to come over the coming years, one of which already has its sights on Houston.
Batbox is a baseball-themed entertainment venue, sports bar, and kitchen. Much like that of Home Run Dugout in Katy, Batbox features multiple baseball simulators available to rent with various interactive games available on each one.
The company has four locations across Mexico. In 2022, the company moved its headquarters to Addison, Texas outside of Dallas where it plans to open its inaugural US location in 2025 ahead of MLB Opening Day in March. Its Addison location will be the first of over two dozen more to come by 2030.
After acquiring $7.3 million in a Series A funding round, Batbox plans to invest the capital in more than 25 locations across the United States, including Denver, Boston, and Houston.
“While baseball enjoys a rich history and a passionate fan base, there has been a significant gap in immersive, interactive experiences that rejuvenate the sport,” said Craig Winning, COO of Batbox, in a press release.
Batbox venues feature a variety of high-tech batting bays using cutting-edge Strikezon technology. The bays host parties of up to 18 people. With the ability of customizing pitch speed and level, players can play from 3 to 6 to 9 innings of baseball or opt for a home run derby competition or pitching contest.
Batbox doubles as a sports bar, where it features elevated ballpark eats such as Wagyu hot dogs with bourbon pickles. The venue also features “Major League Beverages” with curated ingredient-focused mixed drinks, as well as local drafts, wines, and other staples.
While Batbox aims to open their inaugural US location in Addison by March 2025, the company has not yet laid out a timeline for its other future US openings. Stay tuned for more details!
